About Me
Besides being a counsellor, I'm a mid-life college professor, widow, and mom of a teen. I've personally experienced and successfully navigated many of life's difficulties, including childhood challenges, anxiety/depression, infertility, loved ones with major illnesses, the sudden death of my spouse, dating in early and midlife, menopause, looking after aging parents, a touch of burnout, and oh, so much more! :) I've learned a lot from both the "school of hard knocks" and my formal training (I hold a Master of Counselling Psychology and am a Registered Psychotherapist, Qualifying), and I'm ready and willing to help you navigate whatever challenges you're currently facing with a caring, supportive, and nonjudgmental approach.
How I Began
The Counsellor began when my students starting coming to me after class seeking a non-judgmental and caring listener. They would confide in me and ask for advice and support about their personal issues. Their stories inspired me to get formal training so I could feel confident in my ability to help. That, plus sending them off to the campus counsellor to continue getting support always made me realize how much I wanted to keep helping them myself, and so, my adventure as a helper beyond the classroom began...and I haven't looked back!
